Katori Shinto
Katori Shinto is a traditional Japanese martial art that originated in the Katori Shrine, located in Chiba Prefecture. It is one of the oldest forms of martial arts in Japan, focusing on various weapons, including the sword, staff, and naginata. The practice emphasizes not only physical techniques but also spiritual development and discipline.
The art is rooted in the teachings of Katori Shinto-ryu, a school founded by Choisai Ienao in the 15th century. Practitioners learn kata, or pre-arranged forms, which help them develop skills, timing, and strategy. Katori Shinto continues to be practiced today, preserving its historical and cultural significance.
