Karsten Solheim
Karsten Solheim was a Norwegian-American golf club designer and the founder of Ping, a well-known golf equipment company. Born on March 15, 1911, in Norway, he moved to the United States in 1948. Solheim is credited with revolutionizing golf club design, particularly with his innovative use of perimeter weighting in putters.
His most famous creation, the Ping Anser putter, was introduced in 1966 and became one of the best-selling putters in history. Solheim's contributions to the sport earned him numerous accolades, including induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001. He passed away on September 16, 2021.
