Karl Marx Monument
The Karl Marx Monument is a large bronze statue located in Chemnitz, Germany. Erected in 1971, it commemorates the philosopher and economist Karl Marx, who is best known for his theories on socialism and communism. The statue stands 7.1 meters tall and weighs around 40 tons, making it one of the largest monuments dedicated to Marx in the world.
The monument was created by the sculptor Leopold Schilling and features Marx's head resting on a pedestal inscribed with his famous work, Das Kapital.
