Kargil War Heroes
The Kargil War, fought between India and Pakistan in 1999, showcased the bravery of many soldiers. Among the notable heroes was Captain Vikram Batra, who played a crucial role in capturing strategic points. His leadership and courage earned him the nickname "Shershaah," and he was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honor.
Another hero was Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey, who displayed exceptional valor during the conflict. He led his troops in challenging conditions and was instrumental in reclaiming Point 5140. Like Batra, Pandey was also awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his extraordinary bravery and sacrifice.
