Kaptai River
The Kaptai River is a significant waterway located in the southeastern region of Bangladesh. It flows through the Kaptai Upazila in the Rangamati District and is known for its scenic beauty and ecological importance. The river is a tributary of the Sangu River and plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem, supporting various species of fish and wildlife.
The river is also associated with the Kaptai Dam, which was constructed in the 1960s to generate hydroelectric power. This dam created the Kaptai Lake, the largest man-made lake in Bangladesh, which serves as a vital resource for irrigation, fishing, and tourism in the region.
