Kapil Dev is a former Indian cricketer and captain, widely regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of the sport. Born on January 6, 1959, in Chandigarh, he played for the Indian national team from 1978 to 1994. He is best known for leading India to its first-ever Cricket World Cup victory in 1983.
