The Kansas City Kings were a professional basketball team that played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1972 to 1985. Originally founded as the Cincinnati Royals in 1948, the team relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, and later became known as the Kings. They played their home games at the Municipal Auditorium and later at the Kemper Arena.
During their time in Kansas City, the Kings had several notable players, including Otis Birdsong and Mitch Richmond. Despite some competitive seasons, the team struggled to achieve significant playoff success. In 1985, the franchise moved to Sacramento, California, where they became the Sacramento Kings.
