Kannauj Kingdom
The Kannauj Kingdom was an ancient Indian kingdom located in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent, primarily in present-day Uttar Pradesh. It flourished between the 6th and 12th centuries and was known for its strategic location along trade routes. The kingdom was a cultural and political hub, attracting scholars, artists, and traders.
Kannauj was ruled by several dynasties, including the Gupta Empire and the Pratihara Dynasty. It played a significant role in the regional power struggles of the time, often being a focal point for rival kingdoms. The kingdom's decline began in the 12th century due to invasions and shifting political dynamics.
