Kagami (Mirror)
Kagami, or mirror, is a traditional Japanese object often used in rituals and ceremonies. It is typically made of polished metal or glass and serves both practical and symbolic purposes. In Shinto, the mirror represents purity and truth, reflecting the inner self and the divine.
In Japanese culture, kagami is also associated with the New Year celebration, known as Shōgatsu. During this time, people display kagami mochi, a decorative rice cake, which symbolizes prosperity and good fortune for the coming year. The mirror's reflective quality embodies the idea of self-examination and introspection.
