Kafan (Shroud)
A kafan, or shroud, is a simple garment used in Islamic burial practices. It is typically made of plain white cloth and serves to cover the deceased's body. The use of a kafan reflects the belief in humility and equality in death, as all individuals are treated the same regardless of their status in life.
The kafan is usually composed of three pieces of cloth for men and five for women, symbolizing modesty. Before burial, the body is washed and wrapped in the kafan, which is then tied securely. This practice is an important part of the Islamic funeral rites, emphasizing respect for the deceased.
