Kachchhap (Tortoise)
The Kachchhap, or tortoise, is a reptile known for its distinctive hard shell that protects its body. Tortoises are primarily land-dwelling creatures, although some species live in water. They are part of the order Testudines, which includes both tortoises and turtles. Tortoises are herbivorous, feeding mainly on grasses, leaves, and fruits.
These animals are known for their slow movement and long lifespan, often living for several decades. Tortoises have a unique way of retracting their heads and limbs into their shells for protection. They play an important role in their ecosystems by helping to maintain plant diversity through their grazing habits.
