K2 Base Camp
K2 Base Camp is the starting point for climbers attempting to reach the summit of K2, the second-highest mountain in the world. Located in the Karakoram range of the Himalayas, it sits at an elevation of approximately 5,150 meters (16,900 feet). The camp serves as a crucial staging area for acclimatization and preparation before the challenging ascent.
The trek to K2 Base Camp typically begins in the village of Askole and involves navigating through rugged terrain and stunning landscapes. Climbers often spend several days at the base camp to adjust to the high altitude and to plan their route for the climb ahead.
