K meson
A K meson, also known as a kaon, is a type of subatomic particle that belongs to the family of mesons. It is composed of a quark and an antiquark, specifically a strange quark and either an up or down quark. K mesons are important in the study of particle physics and help scientists understand the forces that govern the behavior of matter.
K mesons come in several varieties, including the charged K⁺ and K⁻, as well as the neutral K⁰. They are known for their role in the phenomenon of CP violation, which is a difference in behavior between particles and their antiparticles. This violation is significant in explaining the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe.
