Kāmaʻo
Kāmaʻo, also known as the Hawaiian thrush, is a bird native to the Hawaiian Islands. It is recognized for its distinctive olive-brown plumage and melodic song. Once found on several islands, its population has significantly declined due to habitat loss and the introduction of non-native species.
This bird primarily inhabits rainforests and feeds on fruits, insects, and other small invertebrates. Conservation efforts are underway to protect the remaining populations of Kāmaʻo, as it is currently listed as endangered. Preserving its habitat is crucial for the survival of this unique species in the Hawaiian ecosystem.
