Justus H. Rathbone
Justus H. Rathbone was an American businessman and the founder of the Knights of Pythias, a fraternal organization established in 1864. Born on February 22, 1839, in New York, he aimed to promote friendship, charity, and benevolence among its members. The organization was notable for being one of the first to receive a charter from the state of California.
Rathbone's vision for the Knights of Pythias included a commitment to community service and support for those in need. He served as the organization's first Supreme Chancellor, helping to expand its reach across the United States and beyond. Rathbone passed away on March 15, 1899.
