Justice of the Peace
A Justice of the Peace (JP) is a public official authorized to perform various legal duties, primarily in the areas of marriage, civil ceremonies, and minor legal matters. JPs often handle tasks such as witnessing signatures, administering oaths, and officiating at weddings. They serve in local communities and are typically appointed or elected.
In many jurisdictions, JPs also have the authority to preside over small claims cases and traffic violations. Their role is to ensure that justice is accessible and efficient, often acting as a bridge between the community and the legal system.
