June beetle
The June beetle, also known as the June bug, is a common insect belonging to the family Scarabaeidae. These beetles are typically brown or green and are most active during the late spring and early summer months. They are known for their distinctive, rounded bodies and can often be seen flying around lights at night.
June beetles are primarily herbivorous, feeding on the leaves of various plants. Their larvae, known as grubs, live in the soil and feed on organic matter, which can sometimes lead to damage in gardens and lawns. Despite this, they play a role in the ecosystem by helping to decompose organic material.
