Julian Byng
Julian Byng was a British Army officer and politician, born on 6th September 1862. He is best known for his role as a commander during World War I, particularly for leading the Canadian Corps at the Battle of Vimy Ridge in 1917. His leadership earned him respect and recognition, and he was later appointed Governor General of Canada from 1921 to 1926.
Byng's military career began at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and he served in various campaigns, including the Second Boer War. After the war, he transitioned into politics and was involved in several public service roles, contributing to both military and civilian life in Canada and Britain.
