Judo Techniques
Judo techniques are primarily categorized into two main types: throwing techniques and grappling techniques. Throwing techniques, known as nage-waza, involve using an opponent's balance and momentum to throw them to the ground. Common throws include ippon seoi nage and osaekomi, which require precise timing and body positioning.
Grappling techniques, or ne-waza, focus on ground fighting and controlling an opponent after a throw. These techniques include joint locks and chokeholds, such as juji-gatame and hadaka-jime. Mastery of both throwing and grappling techniques is essential for effective performance in Judo competitions and self-defense situations.
