Joseon era
The Joseon era was a dynastic period in Korean history that lasted from 1392 to 1910. Founded by General Yi Seong-gye, it is known for its Confucian-based governance, which emphasized education, social hierarchy, and moral integrity. The dynasty saw significant advancements in science, technology, and culture, including the creation of the Korean script, Hangul, by King Sejong the Great.
During the Joseon era, the arts flourished, with notable developments in painting, ceramics, and literature. The period also experienced challenges, such as invasions by Japan, including the Imjin War (Japanese invasions of Korea) in the late 16th century. Despite these challenges, the Joseon dynasty left a lasting legacy on Korean identity and culture.
