Josef Křižík
Josef Křižík was a Czech inventor and electrical engineer, born on July 24, 1847, in the town of Kladno. He is best known for his pioneering work in the development of electric lighting and power systems in the late 19th century. Křižík played a significant role in the introduction of alternating current (AC) technology in the Czech lands, which greatly contributed to the modernization of electrical infrastructure.
One of his notable achievements was the construction of the first electric tramway in Prague in 1891. Křižík also invented the arc lamp, which was widely used for street lighting. His contributions to electrical engineering helped lay the foundation for modern electrical systems in the region.
