Joscelin II of Edessa
Joscelin II of Edessa was a nobleman who became the Count of Edessa, a significant territory in the Crusader states, during the 12th century. He was born around 1118 and was the son of Joscelin I of Edessa, the first count of the region. His rule was marked by challenges, including conflicts with neighboring Muslim states and internal struggles within the Crusader territories.
In 1144, Edessa fell to the Muslim leader Zengi, leading to Joscelin II's capture. He was later released but struggled to regain control over his lost territory. His reign ended around 1170, and he is remembered for his efforts to maintain Crusader presence in the region.
