Jorge Isaacs
Jorge Isaacs was a Colombian writer, politician, and landowner, born on April 1, 1837, in Cali, Colombia. He is best known for his novel, María, published in 1867, which is considered a classic of Colombian literature. The novel explores themes of love and nature, set against the backdrop of the Colombian landscape.
In addition to his literary work, Isaacs was involved in politics and served as a member of the Colombian Congress. He also played a significant role in the development of the sugar industry in the Valle del Cauca region. Isaacs passed away on April 17, 1895.
