Johns-Manville Corporation
The Johns-Manville Corporation is an American manufacturer known for producing insulation, roofing materials, and other building products. Founded in 1858 by Johns Manville, the company became a significant player in the construction industry, particularly noted for its use of asbestos in various products during the 20th century.
In the late 1970s, concerns about the health risks associated with asbestos led to numerous lawsuits and regulatory changes. As a result, Johns-Manville filed for bankruptcy in 1982 and later emerged as a restructured company, focusing on safer materials and practices while continuing to serve the construction market.
