Johnny Longden
Johnny Longden was a famous American jockey born on February 14, 1907, in Vancouver, Canada. He became one of the most successful jockeys in horse racing history, known for his exceptional riding skills and strategic approach. Longden won over 6,000 races during his career, making him a prominent figure in the sport.
In addition to his impressive race wins, Longden is best known for riding the legendary racehorse Citation, who won the 1948 Kentucky Derby. He was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1958, recognizing his significant contributions to horse racing. Longden retired in 1966 and passed away on May 14, 2003.
