John VI Kantakouzenos
John VI Kantakouzenos was a Byzantine Emperor who ruled from 1347 to 1354. He was born into a noble family and became a prominent military leader before ascending to the throne. His reign was marked by internal strife and civil war, particularly against John V Palaiologos, whom he initially supported but later opposed.
Kantakouzenos is known for his efforts to stabilize the Byzantine Empire during a time of decline. He sought alliances with Western Europe and the Ottoman Turks to strengthen his position. After abdicating, he became a monk and wrote a history of his time, providing valuable insights into the era.
