John Russwurm
John Russwurm was an important figure in American history, known for being one of the first African American college graduates. He graduated from Columbia University in 1826 and later became a prominent advocate for the rights of African Americans.
In 1827, Russwurm co-founded the first African American newspaper, called Freedom's Journal. This publication aimed to address issues affecting the African American community and promote social justice. Through his work, Russwurm played a significant role in the early fight for civil rights in the United States.
