John Forrest
John Forrest was an Australian explorer and politician, born on April 22, 1847, in Western Australia. He is best known for his extensive explorations of the Australian interior, particularly in the late 19th century. Forrest led several expeditions, including the first successful overland journey from Adelaide to Perth in 1874, which helped map the region and opened it up for settlement.
In addition to his exploration work, Forrest served as the first Premier of Western Australia from 1890 to 1901. He played a significant role in the development of the state, advocating for infrastructure projects and the establishment of a railway system. His contributions to both exploration and politics have made him a notable figure in Australian history.
