John Burroughs Association
The John Burroughs Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of naturalist and writer John Burroughs. Founded in 1925, it promotes appreciation for nature through education, conservation, and the celebration of Burroughs' work. The association organizes events, publishes materials, and maintains the John Burroughs Memorial in Woodchuck Lodge, his former home in New York.
The association also supports the annual John Burroughs Medal, awarded to authors for distinguished nature writing. This award highlights the importance of nature literature and encourages new voices in the field. Through these efforts, the association fosters a deeper connection between people and the natural world.
