John Blunt
John Blunt was an English financier known for his role in the early 18th century. He is best remembered for his involvement in the South Sea Bubble, a financial crisis that occurred in 1720. Blunt promoted the South Sea Company, which promised high returns on investments but ultimately led to significant financial losses for many investors.
Born around 1670, Blunt was a key figure in the speculative frenzy surrounding the company. His aggressive marketing and promises attracted numerous investors, but when the company's stock collapsed, it resulted in widespread economic turmoil. Blunt's actions contributed to the eventual regulation of financial markets in England.
