Joaquim Barbosa
Joaquim Barbosa is a Brazilian lawyer and former judge who served as the President of the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil from 2012 to 2014. He is known for his significant role in high-profile cases, including the Mensalão trial, which exposed a major political corruption scandal in Brazil. Barbosa was the first Afro-Brazilian to hold the position of President of the Supreme Court.
Born on October 7, 1954, in Pará de Minas, Brazil, Barbosa studied law at the University of Brasília. He later earned a master's degree and a doctorate in law. After a distinguished career in the judiciary, he became a prominent figure in Brazilian politics and social justice discussions.
