João Lourenço
João Lourenço is an Angolan politician who has served as the President of Angola since September 2017. He is a member of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and previously held the position of Minister of Defense. Lourenço succeeded José Eduardo dos Santos, who had been in power for nearly 38 years.
As president, Lourenço has focused on economic reforms and anti-corruption efforts to improve governance in Angola. His administration aims to diversify the economy, which has been heavily reliant on oil, and to attract foreign investment to foster growth and development in the country.
