João Guimarães Rosa was a Brazilian writer born on June 27, 1908, in Cordisburgo, Brazil. He is best known for his innovative use of language and narrative style, which often reflects the culture and landscape of the Brazilian hinterlands. His most famous work, Grande Sertão: Veredas, explores themes of love, conflict, and the human condition through the eyes of a jagunço, or a hired gunman.
