João Goulart
João Goulart was a Brazilian politician who served as the 24th President of Brazil from 1961 until 1964. He was a member of the Brazilian Labor Party and was known for his progressive policies, which aimed to address social inequalities and promote economic reforms. Goulart's presidency faced significant opposition from conservative sectors of society and the military.
In 1964, Goulart was overthrown in a military coup, leading to a period of military dictatorship in Brazil that lasted until 1985. His removal marked a significant turning point in Brazilian history, as it shifted the country away from democratic governance and towards authoritarian rule.
