Jizo
Jizo is a beloved figure in Japanese Buddhism, often depicted as a small, child-like monk. He is known as the protector of children, travelers, and the souls of the deceased. Jizo is frequently seen in cemeteries and along roadsides, where people place offerings such as toys, food, and flowers to honor him and seek his guidance.
In addition to his role as a guardian, Jizo is associated with compassion and mercy. He is often portrayed holding a staff and a jewel, symbolizing his ability to guide souls to enlightenment. Many people visit Jizo statues to pray for the well-being of their loved ones and to find comfort in times of sorrow.
