Jim Bunning
Jim Bunning was an American professional baseball player and politician. He was born on October 23, 1931, in Southgate, Kentucky. Bunning played as a pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for teams like the Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was known for his strong fastball and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1996.
After retiring from baseball, Bunning entered politics and served as a Republican senator for Kentucky from 2004 to 2011. During his time in the Senate, he focused on issues such as fiscal responsibility and healthcare. Bunning passed away on May 26, 2021.
