Jessica's Law
Jessica's Law is a piece of legislation aimed at protecting children from sexual predators. It was named after Jessica Lunsford, a young girl who was tragically abducted and murdered by a convicted sex offender in 2005. The law mandates stricter penalties for sex offenders, including longer prison sentences and mandatory lifetime registration on sex offender lists.
In addition to tougher penalties, Jessica's Law also emphasizes the importance of community awareness and education. It encourages law enforcement agencies to work together to monitor sex offenders more effectively and provides resources for families to help keep children safe from potential threats.
