Jerry Falwell
Jerry Falwell was an American evangelical pastor, televangelist, and conservative political commentator. He founded the Liberty University in 1971, which became one of the largest Christian universities in the world. Falwell was also known for his role in the Moral Majority, a political organization he established in the late 1970s to mobilize conservative Christians in American politics.
Born on August 11, 1933, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Falwell gained national attention through his television ministry. He was a prominent figure in the Religious Right movement, advocating for traditional family values and opposing issues like abortion and same-sex marriage. Falwell passed away on May 15, 2007.
