Jefferson Nickel
The Jefferson Nickel is a five-cent coin that has been in circulation in the United States since 1938. It features a portrait of President Thomas Jefferson on the obverse side, honoring his contributions to the nation. The reverse side originally depicted Jefferson's home, Monticello, but this design was changed in 2006 to feature a new depiction of the building.
The coin is made primarily of nickel and copper, giving it a distinctive silver-like appearance. The Jefferson Nickel is part of the U.S. Mint's ongoing efforts to celebrate American history and culture through coin design.
