Jay's Treaty
Jay's Treaty was an agreement signed in 1794 between the United States and Great Britain. It aimed to resolve issues remaining after the American Revolutionary War, such as trade disputes and the presence of British troops in the Northwest Territory. The treaty was named after John Jay, the chief negotiator, and it sought to improve relations between the two nations.
The treaty included provisions for the withdrawal of British forces from American territory and established a commission to settle outstanding financial claims. Although it was controversial and faced opposition from some Americans, it helped to prevent war and laid the groundwork for future trade relations.
