Japanese shakuhachi
The shakuhachi is a traditional Japanese bamboo flute known for its unique sound and spiritual significance. It has five finger holes and is typically made from a single piece of bamboo, giving it a natural and organic tone. The instrument is often associated with Zen Buddhism, where it is used in meditation and as a means of self-expression.
Historically, the shakuhachi was played by wandering monks known as komusō, who used the music to achieve a state of mindfulness. Today, it is appreciated both in Japan and internationally, often featured in various music genres and cultural performances.
