The Japanese language is the official language of Japan and is spoken by over 125 million people. It is part of the Japonic language family and has three main writing systems: hiragana, katakana, and kanji. Hiragana and katakana are syllabaries, while kanji consists of characters borrowed from Chinese.
Japanese is known for its complex honorifics and levels of politeness, which reflect the social hierarchy in Japanese culture. The language has a unique sentence structure, typically following a subject-object-verb order. Additionally, it features various dialects, with the Tokyo dialect being the standard form used in education and media.
