Japanese White-eye
The Japanese White-eye, also known as Mejiro, is a small songbird native to Japan and other parts of East Asia. It has a distinctive greenish-yellow plumage, a white eye-ring, and a short, slender body. These birds are often found in gardens, forests, and parks, where they feed on nectar, fruits, and insects.
Japanese White-eyes are social creatures, often seen in small flocks. They are known for their lively behavior and melodious songs. During the breeding season, they build cup-shaped nests in trees, where they lay small eggs. Their presence is a sign of spring in Japan, as they are among the first birds to return after winter.
