Japanese School System
The Japanese school system consists of six years of elementary school, three years of junior high school, and three years of high school. Education is compulsory for the first nine years, covering basic subjects like math, science, and Japanese language. Students typically start elementary school at age six.
After completing junior high, most students advance to high school, which is not mandatory but has a high enrollment rate. The school year begins in April and ends in March, with breaks in summer, winter, and spring. Students often participate in club activities, which are an essential part of school life.
