Janet Cardiff
Janet Cardiff is a Canadian artist known for her innovative work in sound and installation art. Born in 1957 in Brussels, Ontario, she often combines audio recordings with visual elements to create immersive experiences. Her projects frequently explore themes of memory, place, and storytelling, inviting audiences to engage with their surroundings in new ways.
One of her most famous works is the audio walk titled “The Forty Part Motet,” which features a choral piece performed by 40 individual speakers. Cardiff's art has been exhibited internationally, including at prestigious venues like the Venice Biennale and the Museum of Modern Art.
