James III
James III was a king of Scotland who reigned from 1460 to 1488. He was the son of James II and Mary of Guelders. His reign was marked by internal conflict and challenges to his authority, particularly from the powerful Scottish nobility.
James III is often remembered for his attempts to centralize power and strengthen the monarchy. However, his unpopular policies and reliance on favorites led to discontent. This culminated in a rebellion that ultimately resulted in his defeat and death at the Battle of Sauchieburn in 1488, leading to the ascension of his son, James IV.
