James Doolittle
James Doolittle was an American general and aviation pioneer, born on December 30, 1896. He is best known for leading the Doolittle Raid during World War II, which was the first air raid to strike the Japanese home islands. This daring mission boosted American morale and demonstrated that Japan was vulnerable to American air attacks.
Doolittle was also a skilled pilot and engineer, earning a doctorate in aeronautical engineering. He made significant contributions to aviation, including advancements in instrument flying. His achievements earned him numerous awards, including the Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Medal.
