Jalaluddin Rumi
Jalaluddin Rumi, commonly known as Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian poet, Islamic scholar, and Sufi mystic. Born in 1207 in Balkh, present-day Afghanistan, he later settled in Konya, Turkey. Rumi's works focus on themes of love, spirituality, and the connection between the human soul and the divine. His poetry, particularly the Masnavi, is celebrated for its depth and beauty.
Rumi's teachings emphasize the importance of love and compassion, transcending religious boundaries. He founded the Mevlevi Order, known for its distinctive whirling dance, symbolizing spiritual ascent.
