Jaitpur Power Project
The Jaitpur Power Project is a proposed nuclear power plant located in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, India. It aims to generate approximately 9,900 megawatts of electricity using six European Pressurized Reactors (EPRs), making it one of the largest nuclear power projects in the country. The project is being developed by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) in collaboration with Areva, a French nuclear company.
The project is expected to help meet the growing energy demands of India while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. It has faced various challenges, including environmental concerns and local opposition, but proponents argue that it will contribute to energy security and economic growth in the region.
