JWST
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is a large, space-based observatory designed to observe the universe in infrared light. Launched on December 25, 2021, it aims to study celestial objects such as stars, galaxies, and planets, providing insights into their formation and evolution. JWST is considered a successor to the Hubble Space Telescope and is equipped with advanced technology to capture clearer images of distant astronomical phenomena.
JWST's primary mirror is 6.5 meters in diameter, allowing it to collect more light than its predecessors. It operates from a location near the Lagrange Point 2 (L2), about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, where it can maintain a stable position while observing the cosmos. The telescope's mission is expected to last for at least ten years, significantly enhancing our understanding of the universe.
